lyrics

When I was a child
All my dreams were recurring
I used to leave my body
And peek into the living room
Where people were laughing
And smelled like cologne
Nobody could see me
Alone in my dimension

When I was a child
I had this one dream quite often
I was royalty in France
In the 1700s
A great crowd was gathering
To watch the procession
The weight of my costume
Was quite suffocating

My ladies in waiting
Proceeded around me
Their bodies like a cage
Prevented my escape
I walked very slowly
Lead ran through my veins
The fear within me mounting
The life within me drained

I have no clear notion
Of what is to happen
In this dream all I know
Is that I'm choking with dread
On my way to my death
Or on my way to my wedding
Either way, in my heart
My life will soon end

I can picture the courtyard
I can picture the scenery
In this dream, unlike life,
I can speak perfect French

I am wealthy and pampered
But my life is a prison
I am walked with my ladies
In a procession towards death
